Dr. Julio Garcia is a board certified physician who has created the Regenerative Medicine Institute. Part of their ongoing clinical research focuses on studying which diseases react to various methods of treatment and yield the best results. The Regenerative Medicine Institute of Nevada (RMIN) provides care for acute and chronic injuries from conditions like athletic injuries as well as long-term disabling arthritis. They prides themselves not only in the quality of care they provide patients, but also their participation in ongoing clinical research in order to contribute to the progression of regenerative medicine. 

RMIN works in conjunction with a clinical research coordinator who secures their patient’s confidential information.          Dr. Aref Karbasi

Dr. Aref Karbasi is a primary care physician & cosmetic specialist. He is an expert at diagnosing and treating a range of conditions for patients across their lifespan. In addition to family medicine, Dr. Karbasi has a special focus on cosmetic procedures including Botox, laser skin resurfacing, skin care, acne treatments and innovative procedures such as IV therapies, PRP (platelet rich plasma), and stem cell treatments. 

Dr. Karbasi earned his medical degree from the Azad Medical School at Azad University in Tehran, Iran. He went on to complete his pediatric residency at the Tehran Medical University Children’s Medical Center. He also completed a residency in family medicine and served as chief resident at the Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Columbus, Georgia. He is currently an Adjunct Faculty member and clinical Instructor at Kaiser Permanente residency program in Woodland Hills Medical center.                  Riam Shammaa

                 Riam Shammaa

Riam Shamma is an expert in musculoskeletal and regenerative medicine and lectures at the University of Toronto on Musculoskeletal diseases. He is an expert in pain medicine and serves as the Medical Director of Regenerative and Transitional Medicine at the Canadian Center for Regenerative Therapy. He is also the lead scientist at the Institute for Stem Cell Research. Dr. Shammaa is a pioneer in autologous and allogeneic stem cell treatments. He has lent his expertise to the National Ballet of Canada, Toronto Marlies, Toronto FC, Mississauga Steelheads, Ryerson Rams, and Ontario Women’s Hockey Association. He was also appointed as lead physician at the 2015 Pan Am games and currently serves as the lead physician for Boxing Ontario. Dr. Shammaa worked in research at McGill University and in the private sector before completing his residency in family medicine at McGill University. He went on to complete a fellowship in Sports medicine at the University of Toronto. He is a national expert on regenerative medicine and had given several lectures across Canada on stem cells, Transitional medicine and regenerative medicine.

What is Special About Mesenchymal Stem Cells?

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) represent an archetype of multi-potent somatic stem cells that hold promise for application in regenerative medicine. MPCs are multi-potent and are the precursors for bone, cartilage, muscle and connective tissues, i.e., differentiate into many types of tissue based on the surrounding environment. In fact, mesenchymal stem cells have been found to be responsible for growth and regeneration of tissue.

However, the number of these cells in our body decrease with age. By harvesting mesenchymal stem cells from umbilical cords, it is possible to provide patients with successful fusion and tissue repair as well as treatment for immune disorders and other conditions.

What Are Growth Factors & Cytokines?

Growth factors and cytokines are naturally occurring proteins capable of stimulating cellular growth, proliferation and differentiation.

Cytokines are associated with immune system cells and play a key role in modulation of inflammation. They bind to the cell’s surface receptors like a lock and key.

Their precise 3-D structure is essential for binding to cell surface receptors. Many bind to multiple cell surface receptors to produce biological effects inside the cells that can lead to rejuvenation and restoration.

Are Stem Cells Approved By The FDA?

In the past there has been some controversy and misunderstandings around the use of stem cells. We are in a new era of stem cells in the United States. Unfortunately, those old misunderstandings have caused some people to be confused about the use of stem cells in general, as well as, the type of stem cells we are using at Invitrx which are from our FDA registered cord blood stem cell bank.  Our stem cells come from sources like the umbilical cords which are donated by mothers.  For instance, if the mothers choose to donate their umbilical cords, we use good tissue practice regulations, donor screening, and tissue testing practice regulations to process the stem cells. No babies are harmed in this process.

After the cord blood stem cells are collected from sources like the umbilical cord, they are processed, frozen and can be safely stored for years. The method of freezing is called cryopreservation and is very important to maintain the integrity of the stem cells. Our stem cells, which are taken out of -80 C freezers are shipped using dry ice. Our stem cells are delivered to your doctor in frozen vials on dry ice. You will work with your doctor to determine the protocol that will be best for your situation.

The stem cells are quickly warmed by holding the vial in your doctors hand for a few minutes. Once it is completely liquid, the doctor can either choose to inject the stem cells intravenously by either a shot or an IV. Often doctors will know the patient's history prior to the stem cell injection by requesting basic or advanced labs to look for inflammatory or other markers. Depending on the condition of the patient's well-being, the doctor may want to suggest a vitamin IV or glutathione IV or other therapies to help support the immune system either before or during the stem cell injection.

No Surgery Required

One of the reasons many doctors as well as patients like our Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) is that our process does not require any liposuction, adipose tissue extraction or bone marrow-derived stem cells extracted from a patient's hip bone. These processes either require anesthesia or some sort of invasive procedure. In our process, the stem cells are taken from another source, like umbilical cords that are ordinary discarded and then processed and frozen. The only thing required for a patient is a shot or IV. Both of which, reportedly from our patients is nearly or completely pain free and there is no recovery time from the shot or IV process, if done correctly.

Note that often a patient may feel flu like symptoms for a day or two after the shot or IV as an indicator that the stem cells are at work. Knowing a person's well-being prior to the shot or injection is key to being able to have some idea around how the patient will react after the therapy. Patients with conditions like Babesia (which is a malaria-like parasite that infects red blood cells) may experience diarrhea for example, as the stem cells are thought to act as a "kill" program for the parasite. Again, consulting with your doctor is key to your preparation and well-being during and after this process. No known harm has come from the injection of stem cells.

Research on Stem Cells

We are dedicated to the documentation and the research of our doctor's use of stem cells for the purpose of advancing of the knowledge around the practical use of stem cells. We welcome doctors who are especially interested in research and we are here to support that process. We will be asking you for some simple information about how you are feeling prior to the injection, as well as, after. We are also looking for patients that are willing to share their experiences as part of a case study process. Safer Stem Cell Process

We provide allogeneic stem cells, meaning the stem cells are collected from sources like umbilical cords. The stem cells are provided to patients by a doctor via an IV or shot. Our allogeneic stem cell process is different from other doctors who use an autologous stem cell process. Autologous stem cell processes require the patient to undergo anesthesia and surgery to obtain the cells from the patient. Stem cells are not equivalent to PRP. PRP can aid in healing, but is not a substitute for stem cells. PRP is often injected in conjunction with stem cells.

Simpler Stem Cell Process

One of the advantages of InvitrxProStemCells is it does not require the patient to undergo surgery, thus being a minimally invasive procedure. Our process is an allogeneic stem cells process, meaning the stem are acquired from sources other than the patient. An autologous stem cell process tends to be a painful process, requiring anesthesia and surgery, which has its own set of complications that our process eliminates. With our process, there is no anesthesia or surgery required. We provide a lower cost process compared to undergoing an autologous stem cell procedure.
